The Obama Chronicles-- Lies and Murder and Suffering

Democracy Now has a worthwhile segment on the killing of civilians by Obama's drones. The video includes a sickening bit of a press conference where Obama denies significant civilian deaths.

Which is on top of this sickening news:
The policy shift, as described by senior U.S. officials, includes targeting fighters whose names aren't known but who are deemed to be high-value terrorism targets or threats to the U.S. The White House stopped short of authorizing attacks on groups of lower-level foot soldiers who are battling the Yemeni government, the officials said.
So now the US is just killing people who fit a certain profile, even though we may not have any idea who they are.

This prosecution of Tarek Mehanna for what should be constitutionally protected free speech, by the Obama Justice Department, is another highly disturbing act. Mehanna's sentencing statement is an amazing piece of work, and is well worth reading.

Last, but still important, is the Obama administration's ridiculous and asinine policy on medical marijuana.
-------------

Thankfully, this election season, I am feeling much less susceptible to the Dems usually arguments for their man. Not that Romney would be better-- he would certainly be worse-- but I just can't bring myself to actively support Obama like I did in 2008. And the way to change does not seem to be through the presidency, but through electing a better Congress and through true grass-roots actions. If we aren't already screwed. But I do sense more and more people waking up to the incredible BS that emanates from the unholy triad of the President, the CIA and the Pentagon.

WANTED-- Someone Who Can Explain This Picture

This is supposed to be WTC1, high up, with people at the windows. There are two issues here. First, the guy at the top who looks like he has a rifle and is standing at the window ledge. What IS he doing? How is he standing in that ledge? What is the thing that looks like a leg under the rifle object, but seems way out of place? The other big issue is the scale here. There are multiple floors here, each floor 12 feet high. Thus, those windows have to be at least 6 feet high, looks more like 8 feet high, given the smaller spandrel width. The scale here is all VERY weird, with the people seeming to be MUCH larger than they should be.

I see now LetsRoll has dealt with this topic, somewhat making some good points and other not so good points. They claim the windows were totally reconfigured here. Which I suppose might explain some of this but not all.

Still, highly bizarre.

Blast from the Past-- Delmart Vreeland

Wikipedia:
Delmart "Mike" Vreeland (born March 20, 1966), near Grosse Pointe, Michigan became notable for claiming to predict the events of September 11, 2001.

Vreeland, wanted by police in eight Michigan jurisdictions for crimes like fraud and burglary was arrested in Iowa's Franklin County on October 20, 2004. According to Sheriff's Deputies, Vreeland ran an identity theft ring in the Detroit area for a few years and had felony convictions for breaking and entering and receiving stolen property. Shortly after the September 11 attacks, Vreeland apparently claimed that he wrote a note that foreshadowed those events while he was in prison.

Vreeland is reportedly considered a folk hero among conspiracy theorists who believe he is a spy for the Office of Naval Intelligence. Government officials reportedly denied that Vreeland ever served in the Navy.[1] Vreeland's various claims have included knowing the cause of death of a Canadian Embassy employee before it was officially released, working as an undercover American naval officer, and being the victim of a conspiracy of government officials attempting to keep him quiet. Police officers have reportedly characterized Vreeland as "a skilled con".[2]

In 2008, Vreeland was sentenced in Colorado to 336 years to life in prison after he was convicted of inducement of child prostitution, sexual assault, sexual exploitation of children and distribution of cocaine following his luring of two boys to perform sexual acts on-camera in exchange for cocaine, money and the promise of a drum kit.
Love that 33!

Yet More Evidence OKlahoma City Was an Inside Job

Really interesting info here, and the MO of this job and the cover-up is all too familiar.

Thankfully, Jones doesn't say too much in the video, and his voice is somewhat less gravelly and annoying than normal. I really like how says "shame on the men in America for being a bunch of mindless sports fans".

"Hard Measures: How Aggressive CIA Actions After 9/11 Saved American Lives"

Pardon me while I puke.

The author of this tome, is the guy who destroyed all the interrogation videos of al-CIA-duh.

He is a CIA officer named Jose Rodriguez. This guy is a piece of shit criminal and part of the 9/11 cover-up. In other words, he is complicit in the murder of thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Muslims after 9/11.

UPDATE: And the war-criminal torturer was on "60 Minutes": too disgusting for me to watch more than a minute.

Some extra info on Rodriguez and the co-writer for his book, Bill Harlow.

Great Anti-War Diatribe from David Swanson

Some key quotes:
I've had enough of calling the war department the defense department.

I've had enough of war criminals going on book tour instead of trial.

I've had enough of asking that wars obey the rules of war-- like asking rapists to wear condoms.

I've had enough of calling by the name service, anything that a member of the service does other than resistance and conscientious objection.

I've had enough of being told I should be outraged by urination on corpses, I'm not.

I'm outraged by the murder that produces the corpses.

I've had enough of being told that the environmental crisis is separate from the biggest destroyer of our natural environment, which must be patriotically supported.

I've had enough of efforts to protect jobs, civil liberties, education, health care, retirement, the rule of law, and basic human decency without taking on the monstrosity that means death to all of the above-- the military-industrial complex. It is a trillion dollar banker bailout that we give away every year that we never get back.

Belief in humanitarian war keeps the dollars flowing to the beast that produces all the actual wars, the non-humanitarian wars, the murderous wars.

We don't distinguish between good and bad rape, just and unjust slavery (there is no "just war").

33 Roundup

House panel okays $33 billion in food stamp cuts.

Chemical Complex Is On Fire With Nuclear Fuel in Yamaguchi, Japan-- "3379 units of radioactive waste (200L in each unit) and Uranium for nuclear fuel are preserved in the site."

New York police and the FBI dug into a Manhattan basement Thursday to pursue new leads in a child disappearance case that shocked the city 33 years ago. Swarms of officers gathered outside the building where agents hoped they might finally get to the bottom of the mystery of what happened to Etan Patz, who was six when he vanished on his way to school in 1979.

An American citizen who alleges that he was detained and tortured overseas at the behest of the U.S. government — and is now marooned as a result of the U.S. no-fly list — has filed for political asylum in Sweden, he announced with his lawyers on Wednesday. Yonas Fikre, 33, says he spent more than three months in a Dubai detention center in 2011.

Secret service scandal: "The alleged activities took place before Obama arrived Friday in this Colombian port city for meetings with 33 other regional leaders."

Obama has a proposed $8.33 billion nuke power loan guarantee package for two reactors being built at Georgia's Vogtle site.

Let's Have a War on War

A U.S. military veteran kills himself every 80 minutes, with more than 6,500 dying by their own hand every year.

These numbers get pulled out and held to the light every so often, then fall away as the magnitude and scope of the issue leaves the public numb and uninterested.

Nick Kristof took the time to haul the horrific stats onto the pages of The New York Times and points out the number of suicides in a single year far outnumber the combat dead in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

From the NYT:

These unnoticed killing fields are places like New Middletown, Ohio, where Cheryl DeBow raised two sons, Michael and Ryan Yurchison, and saw them depart for Iraq. Michael, then 22, signed up soon after the 9/11 attacks. “I can’t just sit back and do nothing,” he told his mom. Two years later, Ryan followed his beloved older brother to the Army.

When Michael was discharged, DeBow picked him up at the airport — and was staggered. “When he got off the plane and I picked him up, it was like he was an empty shell,” she told me. “His body was shaking.” Michael began drinking and abusing drugs, his mother says, and he terrified her by buying the same kind of gun he had carried in Iraq. “He said he slept with his gun over there, and he needed it here,” she recalls.

Kristof's piece is elegant, sad, and should be read by everyone in America who cares at all what their military members endure.

There are going to be one million new veterans hurled back into the communities from which they came over the next five years, many are combat scarred, and too many will take their own lives.

By Kristof and the Times giving the unpleasant topic a bit of attention, maybe it will get the national attention it deserves and bring some much needed help.

The Story the PTB Have Been Dying to Write

Now this story has two key conspiracy numbers-- 77 and 33:
OSLO — Demanding his acquittal, a self-styled anti-Islamic militant on trial for killing 77 people in Norway’s worst peacetime atrocity took the stand for the first time on Tuesday, describing the deaths as “the most spectacular sophisticated political act in Europe since the Second World War” and saying he would do it over again.

The defendant, Anders Behring Breivik, 33, was speaking after judges permitted him to read from a prepared statement that some Norwegians feared was little more than a manifesto to propagate xenophobic and far-right views. Norwegian authorities had already ruled that his testimony, though witnessed by those in the courtroom, including journalists, would not be broadcast live.
Breivik was 32 at the time of the killings, and now is 33. It took the authorities some time to get to the final 77 death toll.

Bush Administration War Criminal Watch

They KNEW they were committing war crimes... and LOVED it.
WASHINGTON -- A six-year-old memo from within the George W. Bush administration that came to light this week acknowledges that White House-approved interrogation techniques amounted to "war crimes." The memo's release has called attention to what has changed since President Barack Obama took office, but it also raises questions about what hasn't.

The Bush White House tried to destroy every copy of the memo, written by then-State Department counselor Philip Zelikow. Zelikow examined tactics like waterboarding -- which simulates drowning -- and concluded that there was no way they were legal, domestically or internationally.

“We are unaware of any precedent in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or any subsequent conflict for authorized, systematic interrogation practices similar to those in question here," Zelikow wrote. The memo has been obtained by George Washington University's National Security Archive and Wired's Spencer Ackerman.

"Thrive Movement"-- Lots of Truth But No Ultimate Truth

Still, this is really good, and the points they make are all pretty spot-on; I think the idea of how free energy technology could save humanity from war and poverty is particularly critical.

Ultimately, they ascribe plans for world domination to the super elites, the banking families, but take it no farther. They mention aliens making crop circles and visiting the planet, interfering with missiles, but don't take it to the next level of what is really going on.

One really annoying aspect of any conspiracy-related work, is how eager people are to "debunk" it-- as these guys for "Thrive"-- it's quite remarkable, though probably predictable given the nature of the PTB.

33 of the Day

This is classic:
LONDON: Polar bears in Alaska have been seen with missing patches of fur, and reports say it may be due to a "mystery illness" related to the nuclear accident at the Fukushima power plant in Japan.

Nine out of 33 bears studied were found to have alopecia -- loss of fur -- and skin lesions, Sky News reported.

Man-Made Crop Circles?

I find this video "debunking" of the idea of crop circles being alien in nature, to be rather unconvincing. Not so much that what couldn't be stomped down in four hours, but that the precise measurements required for this could be done in that time and by these crude instruments. Not to mention, this video could easily be faked to make it look like these guys did the circle.

Would like to see an actual time-lapse video-- FROM ABOVE-- of a crop circle made by people. Like this--

Which is a bit better, but still, something seems off to me here. Too many people for one. The design is rather basic too.

This is more like it:

F/A18 Jet Crash in Virginia

Looks like the jet came in about where the foam is spraying in this photo below.

That would be from the right in this pic--

Nice chunk of the tail and engines left, not clear how much else of the plane survived. One news report said the plane crashed at 170 mph. Looks like some other debris is lying next to the tail section...

The "Evil Powers That Be" News Hour and Various Outrageous Items

The Department Of Homeland Security Is Buying 450 Million New Bullets-- U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years... The high performance HST bullets are designed for law enforcement and ATK says they offer "optimum penetration for terminal performance."

One year after the Libyan intervention, the situation is worse than ever, and spilling unrest into neighboring countries.

Expansion of the American Empire goes on-- Marines land in Australia to start a new base.

The US military is still out of control in South Korea, with note of some ugly history I was unaware of.

Obama is selling bunker busting bombs and refueling aircraft to Israel, which would facilitate an attack on Iran.

The secret use of the Patriot Act

Horribly massive new NSA data center being built in Bluffdale, UT

Al-CIA-duh websites go mysteriously silent.

The role of the Secret Service in 9/11, with some names of possible perps.

Monsanto's Roundup pesticide is killing butterflies, and other important insect populations.

Some good news: "Poland's ex-intelligence chief charged over alleged links to secret C.I.A. 'black site' prison-- All three of the CIA prisoners who were waterboarded are believed to have been held in Poland... the former intelligence chief, Zbigniew Siemiatkowski, told the paper that he faced charges of violating international law by “unlawfully depriving prisoners of their liberty,” in connection with the secret C.I.A. prison where Qaeda suspects were subjected to brutal interrogation methods.

Kandahar massacre

Interesting that the attack occurred nearly at the same date (11 March 2012) as the infamous My Lai massacre (16 March 1968) but 44 years apart, though little noted by the mainstream press. Of course, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The official story stinks, of course. It seems likely a US Army death squad committed the horrible acts, with Sgt Bales the patsy. And certainly it's been interesting how many stories we've heard about Bales, trying to excuse the crime. So clearly bogus is the official massacre story that even Salon.com -- a mainstay of liberal anti-conspiracy reporting-- questioned whether Bales acted alone. Importantly, the killed and wounded were people, and had names. I wonder if we ever found out any of the names of the people killed at My Lai.

33 of the Day

Doesn't get much more blatant than this: "The police got the first word of the shootings at 10:33 a.m. and were at the university in less than 10 minutes, Chief Jordan said."

Crazed Korean at Oikos University (Oakland California) shoots 10 people and kills 7 people.

Maybe another incident to try to set-up newer gun control measures being discussed in wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting.
---------

33 of the day for April 4th-- a double:

PENNSYLVANIA'S 11 casinos pulled in more than $233.1 million in gross slot-machine revenue last month, setting an all-time monthly high since the state's first casino opened in November 2006 and cementing the state's status as the nation's second-largest gambling market.
The slots totals released Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include revenue from two test nights and one day of operations at the state's 11th casino, Valley Forge Casino Resort, which opened Saturday. Overall, the figures broke the previous monthly record of $218.3 million set in July, and they represent an 8.5 percent increase over March 2011.

When slots and table-game revenues are combined, Pennsylvania has surpassed New Jersey and grown into the second-largest casino market in the country behind Las Vegas. The two traded places in July, and, by January, Pennsylvania had grown into a $3.66 billion market, compared with a $3.3 billion market for New Jersey, according to a casino-consulting-firm executive.
