Today's Edition of "Fuck That Shit"

Why Bush hasn't been impeached, by Gary Kamiya

"Congress, the media and most of the American people have yet to turn decisively against Bush because to do so would be to turn against some part of themselves."

(snip) But there's a deeper reason why the popular impeachment movement has never taken off -- and it has to do not with Bush but with the American people. Bush's warmongering spoke to something deep in our national psyche. The emotional force behind America's support for the Iraq war, the molten core of an angry, resentful patriotism, is still too hot for Congress, the media and even many Americans who oppose the war, to confront directly. It's a national myth. It's John Wayne. To impeach Bush would force us to directly confront our national core of violent self-righteousness -- come to terms with it, understand it and reject it. And we're not ready to do that.

obviously congress is about as effective and powerful as a little girl...
"does anyone have a unicorn? how about a pokemon? any pokemons in the house?"

all phony opposition politicos are to be considered as less powerful than even little girls.

You know, the whole "John Wayne" problem goes away when they admit that they made up the 9/11 attacks. If the Democrats were a real opposition party they would lay blame for the attacks squarely on the criminals in the Bush Administration and they'd have massive public support for whatever crazy Democrat agenda they want to force down everyone's throat.

This really seems to be the other hand of the "One hand washes the other Corporate War Party". At some point in the future people will send them a message they didn't want to hear. In the meantime there's a huge opportunity for an "intelligent Democrat" to make a name for himself. Even an "intelligent Republican" could get a huge amount of public support by just running with the information that we've already uncovered.

Unfortunately they're all either corrupt or spineless.

Speaking of which, what ever did happen with that Anthrax hoax anyway? I've been eagerly awaiting the outcome of the investigation.

Someone tell me how that turned out...

The Democrats can't even stop the war they promised to end. And they can't impeach on already proved crimes that make Watergate pale in comparison.
