Humint Events Online: Why Don't People Believe Roger Clemens When He Says He Never Used Steroids?

Why Don't People Believe Roger Clemens When He Says He Never Used Steroids?

I saw a poll on ESPN where only 25% of respondents believed Clemens was telling the truth.

40% thought he was lying, 35% not sure.*

Such a cynicism!**

I wonder if these same people who doubt Clemens also doubt if the gov't is telling the truth about 9/11?

*This was on TV. At this site, if you take the poll, it was even worse-- only 20% believed Clemens and only 20% were unsure-- and 60% openly thought Clemens was lying when I took the poll.

**Note-- it might have something to do with the fact that his story stinks (just like the gov'ts 9/11 story).

Different people have different reasons for not believing Clemens.

Most people who don't believe him don't know much of the known facts about the case but have formed their opinion based on a general belief that most others are like themseleves - liars.

Some people don't believe him because
they resent his fame and money.

Other people don't believe him because they resent his having changed teams and having left the one they cheer for.

A few others don't believe him because they've analyzed the known facts and have used common-sense reasoning and a knowledge of how human nature works to reach the conclusion that his story is implausible and full of bush.

wouldn't it be great if our media held the government as accountable as they do sports? Think of all the sports shows on TV that do investigative reporting on anything to do with sports and the type of questions they ask. If they did the same to politicians, lobbyists, and think tankers, we would have a decent media. Hell, even "60 Minutes" has been having sports stars as their topics more and more the past few years. And that show is supposed to be about "news", not sports.
