If You Were Incredibly Gullible

... and you believed that Bush did everything he could to prevent 9/11 or the anthrax attacks, AND if you harbored absolutely no suspicions about these terror attacks, than I can really see how easy it is to be attracted to Bush.

In fact, it is down-right scary to think how simple it is to fall into this mindset. And clearly tens of millions of Americans have done so.

And then if you believe Bush about everything-- how the terrorists are the most severe threat we face-- everything Bush does has a cold and brutal logic to it.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11? Well, we don't REALLY know that, do we? (wink wink)

Saddam didn't have WMD? Well, we didn't know for sure-- and after 9/11, we just couldn't take that chance!

Al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq? Well they are there now! (sort of)

Casulaties in Iraq? This is a life-or-death struggle with the terrorists and in comparison to previous global conflicts like WWII, we lost many more than we have now.

Torture? We must do everything we can to stop the terrorists!

The deficit? What's more important-- a few hundred billions dollars or the future of our country?

Obviously, this could go and on, but you get the idea. Terrorism and the threat of future terrorism gives Bush a blank check to do almost anything he wants. All Bush has to do is blame everything on 9/11 (and tacitly the immoral Clinton).
