The news just seems to keep getting worse and worse.
And, yes, having a few extra hundred billion dollars and National Guard troops out of Iraq would have helped to deal with the disaster considerably.

the levees that collapsed were the VERY SAME ONES that bush canncelled funds for...to pay for his (actually OUR) Waterloo in the desert sand. this MOTHERFUCKER bush belongs IN SHACKLES!
When the levee breaks
It appears that the money has been moved in the president’s budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that’s the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can’t be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us.
