I like this one a lot - the jane doe billiard balls action and I've already used it as a reference today in a comment at 911blogger.com - thanx! - you obviously put a lot of time and thought into your blog, and it's a shame that you don't get more comments - ha.

I think there is a mistake on that page.
As far as I understand, that page makes the assumption that every time a floor hits the next, the falling speed is again reduced to zero. But that seems not right. Surely, the floors that are already falling have a considerable momentum - the more floors have collapsed, the larger the momentum - and the floors that have already collapsed fall further downwards at a slightly slower speed after the collision / collapse than before. How much slower, depending on the ratio between the weight of the mass that was already falling, and the floor that has just collapsed, and the energy needed to collapse the floor.

The bit that talks about momentum appears to refer to elastic collisions, whereas obviously in the pancaking one would have had inelastic collisions (where the collided objects move on together). So that just appears to be a mistake.

Altogether I would have to say that for the moment Frank Greenings calculations http://www.911myths.com/html/other_contributions.html of falling time appear more persuasive to me. And they happen to be in line with the actual falling times.

All of which does not necessarily say that there was no controlled demolition; just that the collapse time constitutes no strong evidence for it. See also my blog.
