Why Governmental and Corporate Corruption Will Never Be Fixed-- Absent Regime Change?
There's too many crooks to prosecute. E.g. here, but it holds for the war criminals and war profiteers, the justice system, etc.
9/11 is essentially the same way-- so many people and organizations seem to be involved, it's hard to focus on a single perp. Thus in some sense, yes-- the system is so deeply involved, that there is no way for it to investigate and punish itself.
On the other hand, this does seem like a cop out. While thousands of people may be involved in some of these crimes to some degree, there are still key players that made the whole thing possible. These are the ones who must be investigated and prosecuted and sent to jail.
In the example in the link, Angelo Mozilo is clearly a perp who got off because the whole banking system is corrupted, and there were too many perps around him. It seems that the prosecutors couldn't pull the trigger, either because of corruption or overwork or not enough resources. While there really is no excuse for letting a criminal off, it seems they have a much better chance of escaping justice.
Real "regime change" would increase the chance of the 9/11 perps, war perps and banking perps being brought to justice but there are so many variables that there's no guarantee of a good outcome. How likely is regime change anyway?
I still have hopes-- possibly naive but they are still there-- that we can have justice within the system.
