Afghanistan: Opium Poppy Crop Hits Record High, Despite $7 Billion in U.S. Funds
I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!
The cultivation of opium poppies in Afghanistan reached an all-time high last year, despite more than $7 billion in U.S. funds to combat the drug trade. In a new report, the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction, John Sopko, said the record levels "[call] into question the long-term effectiveness and sustainability" of U.S. efforts.

even if Congress were to appropriate funding for black ops, thus obviating the implied need for U.S. involvement in drugs smuggling and distribution, that would not stop intelligence/security services from undermining democracies and overthrowing world leaders who are lax in their support for large corporate interests of big business, big banks, and war profiteers inside and outside of the military itself.
That's the reality, folks.
