1) because they are stupid and ignorant and though it would work to get info on terrorist plots
2) they watched too many Hollywood movies
3) they were just feeling their Nazi roots

6) they are fucking evil and sadistic human-alien hybrids
7) they are fucking evil and sadistic extra-terrestrials
8) they were patriotic Americans protecting America, by God!
9) they were covering up 9/11 by propping up the terrorist narrative
10) some combination of the above
One interesting clue in the report-- it repeatedly refers to 119 suspects in the CIA "enhanced interrogation" program. 119 - 911. Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

All Governments have strategic relationships, which may involve what can be viewed as favorable
treatment. Great Britain, France, Germany, Mexico etc. are examples. Israel is critically more important because of its nearness to sources of critically needed oil - necessary for our country's economy and national security interest.
It's fair game to be critical, but keep the big picture in mind when you do.
