What Do the "Elites" Have in Store for Bush?

If one is a proper conspiracy theorist, one must posit a group of "elites" who set the agenda for the direction the US government takes and who also control the type of coverage the media gives to key issues.

While on the one hand, it may seem absurd to think that this is the case-- that a group of powerful "elites" can control so much-- one only has to look at the case of the September 11th attacks. In this case, the "official" story put out by the government was clearly a lie-- deep state secrets were kept covered up-- and all this was done with the willing complicity of the mainstream media. The ultimate goal of the September 11th attacks was clearly to shock the American people into supporting a radical new governmental enterprise of pre-emptiove invasion in the middle east-- presumably to capture prime oil deposits. The powerful policy elites had spoken.

If you are still dubious that such things exit, check out this quote from a previous post of mine, where William Colby, Former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, warns former Nebraska Senator John W. DeCamp about his investigations into a scandal involving child abuse, drug running, gun running, and satanic ritual-murder by elite members of U.S. society:
What you have to understand, John, is that sometimes there are forces and events too big, too powerful, with so much at stake for other people or institutions, that you cannot do anything about them, no matter how evil or wrong they are and no matter how dedicated or sincere you are or how much evidence you have. That is simply one of the hard facts of life you have to face. You have done your part. You have tried to expose the evil and wrongdoing. It has hurt you terribly. But it has not killed you up to this point. I am telling you, get out of this before it does. Sometimes things are just too big for us to deal with, and we have to step aside and let history take its course.
Colby is obviously referring to some sort of elite power group that deCamp was threatening. People that were above the law-- people that you simply can't fuck with.

This is not to say that this elite power group is all-powerful or that they are a homogeneous group. In fact, there may be several sets of elites, each with different motives and power structures. But the elites exist, no doubt.

In the case of American politics, the key "elites" are those that control Wall Street investment banks and also control mainstream media outlets that can shape public opinion. In fact, in terms of key players, this group overlaps quite a bit with the CIA.

Getting to my original idea here-- I wonder what these elites want to do with President George W. Bush in the next four years. They clearly have allowed him to get away with a lot-- most notably lies about 9/11, lies about Iraq and the massive electoral fraud that took place on Nov. 2. Of course it helps that GWB, through his father, a former CIA director, is highly networked into these elites. But certainly the habit in recent American politics is to have some sort of major scandal in a president's second term.

I think it is likely the elites had a major hand in getting Bill Clinton elected-- largely because they knew they could control him due to his "woman problem". And sure enough, Clinton was controlled very effectively with the Lewinsky scandal. Perhaps this is why they got rid of Bush senior-- they couldn't control him in the same way. On the other hand, GWB is very controllable, which is why they got him "elected" and "re-elected" over men with obviously superior experience and overall morality (Gore and Kerry). I think due to his obvious short-comings, GWB could easily be smashed if the elites wanted it.

The question is-- do they want to smash him? Do they have some plan to take him down-- or are they getting everything they want from him and see no need to do it?

The latter is the scariest idea to me-- that Bush will simply get away with all his lies and immoral policies because he has pleased the right people. Or that they have decided to make him the Republican version of FDR-- with his "new Pearl Harbor" and his mandate from heaven.

But then again, maybe they have become displeased with his waywardness (trying to please too many groups of elites, e.g. the fundies and the neocons) and his incompetence (I don't think Iraq was supposed to turn out this way)-- and thus they are saving a major come-uppance for Mr. Bush. If so, I imagine it will be something fairly ridiculous and contrived, but something that will do the trick. Nonetheless, I can't say that I won't get some satisfaction from it.

BETH-- I think you are right, unfortunately. There is certainly no easy mechanism for a political scandal for Bush, as the Repubs are in control. Any scandal would have to be pushed primarily through the media, which is not too likely.

Depressing.

Hello,

It's me, Beth. Thanks for replying...i'd like to add that my hope is that he does go down from one of the hundreds of vile things he and his posse has done to this world. I think getting rid of the fairness rule (reagan?) the media has naturally done the bidding of powerful corp wishes - no conpiracy...well not huge, maybe some cia influence but a terrible almost unrecoverable effect has taken place nonetheless.
Our society has proven time and time again that "nice guys finish last" (to be simplistic about it)
But miracles do happen. I really hope some freak slip up catches them off guard...

Thanks for addressing the confusion in the 911 truth movement btw...it need to be talked about
