Definitions of Fascism
Some interesting reading.
Obviously "fascism" is a bit of a catch-all phrase, whose meaning is in the eye of the beholder-- sort of like knowing pornography when you see it.
But some definitions hold up better than others, and I would say fascism pretty clearly tends to fit conservatism much more than liberalism.

Fascism always meant simply the merging of the corporate, with the State. Nothing more showy (think armbands, glorious murals & banners, goose stepping masses of soldiers, etc.,) than that.
So, when we in fact have Fascism without all the showy bits (armbands, etc.,) people are lulled into the false belief (by the absence of what they have been programmed to think a fascist state looks like) that they live in a non-fascist state. Or even more pernicious...that they still actually live in a "Democracy".

Using " marks around the word democracy makes it mean people believe "that they still actually live in a ... something other than a democracy".
That's not what you meant, is it?
Next time, if you mean a word literally, don't use quote marks around it.
i see what rob is saying whether he used quotation marks properly or not.
If you want to brag about how perceptive you are, it's okay.
On the internet nobody knows you're a dog.
Good ol' grammar police, saving the world one sentence at a time!
Whatever would we do without them?
Hey I too knew what Rob meant.
