Self-Defeating Democrats
Why must they ALWAYS refer to McCain as an honorable man and a war hero, when the first is simply not true, and the second is a stretch at best?
McCain has repeatedly lied, has shifted his positions with the wind, has been a unrelenting hawk, has essentially called Obama a traitor, and is a self-admitted war criminal for his bombing of the North Vietnamese.
How is any of this honorable? Why would the Democrats repeatedly use this term for McCain, when it doesn't even help them?
It's not that I think the Democrats are the best thing for the country, but I can't even imagine how bad a McCain presidency would be.
I knew Bush would be bad, and he was WORSE than I expected. President McCain-- with a good chance of Palin getting to be president based on McCains' age-- is simply frightful on so many fronts.
And the Democrats seem completely ineffective in painting these dangers.
But of course beyond the conventional politics, there is deep politics and beyond that, that 9/11 was an inside job and the "ultimate truths". There seems to be little doubt that on a deeper level, the Democrats are driven by the same ugly, homicidal forces as the Republicans. The Dems are perhaps under a little less sway than these forces, but one senses in the last few years these forces becoming stronger and stronger, and the Dems giving in more and more.
Nonetheless, it is disturbing in the extreme to see the Dems offering such fake opposition in this election. Disturbing for both the near term pain the election of McCain would mean, and disturbing for the ultimate pain that may be coming all too soon.
The upshot is that once again, while my tendency is to say FUCK the Dems, my other tendency is that the Dems offer our best hope from saving ourselves from the worst. And absent a major shake-up in the political/media order, I can't see any third party as a real option.

""refer to McCain as an honorable man and a war hero,""
mccain was shot down (wrecking his 5th plane no less) while bombing innocent women and children who lived in huts - very heroic!
A McCain/Palin victory will hasten the decline and fall of practically
all Democrats and have salutary effect of hastening the rise in national popularity of a viable third party such as the Green party.
Don't be such a pessimist, Alex.
