A Few Questions About the Faizal Shahzad Case
Why go through all the trouble of buying a car and making a car bomb and do such a shitty job?
If the plan was to flee the country, why wait three days after the act before doing so?
If you go through all the trouble of taking identification off a vehicle, why leave keys to your house in there?
Why are guys like Shahzad such obvious, dumb patsies?
Why aren't we carefully tracking everyone who comes over from Pakistan? And if we are already, the implications are obvious.
Why aren't politicians calling the war on terror a complete bust, a sick joke, and something we clearly have lost?
Why is Joe Lieberman such a fucking douchebag?
UPDATE: Faizal is the son of a Pakistani Air Force vice marshal, so you gotta wonder about an intel set-up here.
UPDATE 2: The London Times (naturally) comes through with the first 33 I've seen for this story: "Sources also said that the father of two, whose last-known job in the US was as a $50,000 (£33,000) a year financial analyst, was taken to South Waziristan by a lead member of Jaish-e-Mohammed, an al-Qaeda-backed group blamed for a series of recent attacks in Pakistan."

"Why aren't politicians calling the war on terror a complete bust, a sick joke, and something we clearly have lost?"
Because:
1. A politician who publicly opposes a war -- ANY war, will be furiously attacked by the Establishment and his career will be put in jeopardy. Lincoln learned that lesson whenever he opposed the war with Mexico - even though it was widely known that Mexico was NOT who started it.
2. The so-called war on terror is NOT a failure to the many special interests who are doing quite nicely thanks to it. The only losers in such a "war" as the one on terror or drugs etc., is "we, the people".
ABC news.com headline today:
"Ahmadinejad: Osama Bin Laden Not in Iran, More Likely in D.C."
Truer words have rarely been spoken.
if our fed overlords were truly concerned about terrorism then they would close the border with mexico - at least 1000 people stroll across on a daily basis.
the fact that they don't close it speaks for itself regarding authentic terrorist threat.
4:19pm-- while it's pretty hard to close off our huge borders completely, I certainly agree that the open borders give the lie to the terrorism threat. If al qaeda were real, they could get all kinds of dudes into the US to wreak havoc.
