Iraq-- US Troops Out, Mercenaries In... and a Reflection

Sounds like another disaster in the making:
On January 1, 2012, the State Department will command a hired army of about 5,500 security contractors, all to protect the largest U.S. diplomatic presence anywhere overseas.

The State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security does not have a promising record when it comes to managing its mercenaries. The 2007 Nisour Square shootings by State’s security contractors, in which 17 Iraqi civilians were killed, marked one of the low points of the war. Now, State will be commanding a much larger security presence, the equivalent of a heavy combat brigade. In July, Danger Room exclusively reported that the Department blocked the Congressionally-appointed watchdog for Iraq from acquiring basic information about contractor security operations, such as the contractors’ rules of engagement.

That means no one outside the State Department knows how its contractors will behave as they ferry over 10,000 U.S. State Department employees throughout Iraq — which, in case anyone has forgotten, is still a war zone. Since Iraq wouldn’t grant legal immunity to U.S. troops, it is unlikely to grant it to U.S. contractors, particularly in the heat and anger of an accident resulting in the loss of Iraqi life.

But just to reflect a little on WHAT EXACTLY the Iraq war was:

1) ROUGHLY ONE MILLION IRAQIS KILLED
2) COUNTLESS IRAQIS MAIMED, WOUNDED, TORTURED AND TRAUMATIZED
3) MILLIONS OF IRAQIS DISPLACED FROM THEIR HOMES
4) THOUSANDS OF US TROOPS KILLED
5) TENS OF THOUSANDS OF US TROOPS MAIMED, WOUNDED AND TRAUMATIZED
6) OVER A TRILLION DOLLARS OF US MONEY WASTED
7) AN ILLEGAL INVASION OF A COUNTRY THAT POSED NO THREAT TO THE US
8) A HORRIBLE AND MASSIVE CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

FUCK all the scum-sucking human monsters (and inhuman monsters) who put us into Iraq, and are still keeping us there. Specifically FUCK George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, George Tenet, Colin Powell and every piece of shit associated with the Bush administration at that time.

Iraq was of course a war based on lies-- massive lies. All wars involve lies, but the Iraq war lies were so blatant, EVERYONE except perhaps the most brainwashed partisan could see it. Lies about WMD, lies about connections to 9/11, lies about terrorism. How could they get away with such lies? 9/11 of course. They must have figured if they could get away with the ludicrous lies of 9/11, they could get away with anything.

Moreover, in the same way that the Vietnam war was a cover-up for the JFK murder, the Iraq war was a cover-up for 9/11. A massive, evil diversion for everyone, bu particularly for the politicians.

Iraq was certainly about oil, about subjugation of a people and about war profiteering, but it was also about pure evil. The evil "powers that be" surely get a great deal of amusement by seeing humans kill each other in so many ways.

FUCK them, and FIGHT THE POWER.

Finally, let us not lull ourselves into thinking that the PTB are sick of war, and that they are not planning another MAJOR war right now, such as their grant target of Iran. They have already started the war-drums. We need to do whatever we can to stop another major war.
