Michael Scheuer is Shocked
Michael Scheuer is a former-CIA agent and former-head of the bin Laden group, supposedly. Scheuer has his knickers in a twist over Sandy Berger destroying classified documents, and the lenient punishment he got.
I think Scheuer is being overly cute in his little piece.
First he feigns shock over the idea that Berger would destroy classified documents. But then he displays absolutely no interest in a) what the documents were about, b) why Berger would destroy them, c) why Berger would get off with a slap on the wrist and d) why the story of Berger admitting guilt after first lying about what he did hasn't gotten more media attention.
As a former CIA-agent, Scheuer HAS to know the games that are being played here. Clearly, Berger was destroying some very incriminating documents about Al Qaeda that no one in either political party wanted discussed.
It is clear to anyone with half a brain that the US government's expressed policy with Osama bin Laden is a "big lie". Bin Laden is a CIA asset and he has been protected by every administration be it Republican or Democrat since Reagan. Bin Laden is an asset of the national security state that has been used very effectively by the powers that be-- and they don't want us to know the real relationship between Osama bin Laden and the US government.
The moral of this is never trust anything a CIA-agent or a former CIA-agent says.
