"Rearming" America-- the Military's Plan to Regrow Body Parts
Silly me, I always thought the best way to get more soldiers would be to institute a draft.
I will say that I think it is highly unlikely that regenerative medicine will ever work to effectively restore functional limbs and destroyed nerves and so forth. Some body parts it might work for-- particularly things like skin. But to effectively regrow body parts that are highly innervated or parts that take years to develop, such as a whole limb? I can't see it being feasible. A couple of fingers? Maybe-- but probably transplantation is a better option.
I imagine if this is mostly just P.R.-- and perhaps a way for some in the military to feel better about the people it destroys.
And... as noted in the comments, any real body regeneration treatment is likely going to be saved for the elites.

effin military doesn't even take care of minor disablements of it's own soldier/fodder - why should we believe that they would give a soldier a new arm or leg even if they could?
this proposed technology would only be available to elites.
