The Real Reason for the Gaza Attacks-- Israel Wants to Spark More Islamic Terrorism
An important post from Juan Cole (important enough to overlook his embrace of the official 9/11 story of Mohamed Atta piloting AA11 into WTC1).
UPDATE: More on Israeli bad intentions-- "Israelis, sipping Pepsi, watch bombardment of Gaza town", and "The international Red Cross accuses Israeli forces today of failing to assist wounded Palestinians and of "unacceptable" delays in letting rescue workers reach a Gaza home where four small children were found alive next to their mothers' bodies."

Atta's supposed righteous anger, if true, may well HAVE led to him ultimately becoming a martyr...but the circumstances of how he lost his life here on Earth certainly do not
include piloting AA11 into WTC1.

Professor Cole, I was glad to see you acknowledge that Hamas "also acted provocatively without regard to the wider consequences." However, I have searched your piece in vain for any suggestion about how Israel SHOULD have responded to Hamas's repeated Qassam rocket attacks from Gaza."
I have a suggestion: Israel SHOULD have responded with equal firepower by lobbing over some cherry bombs or TNTs (if those kinds of fireworks are still being made and called by those names).
well, I agree with all that!
although-- if you read the Cole article, it's clear that Israel not only WANTS to provoke the Palestinians, but that every time there was some hostility that broke a cease-fire, it was Israel breaking peace first.
I read most of Cole's article. I was simply responding to the blogger who asked a rhetorical question...which is obviously based on either ignorance of how the Israeli government operates or else he was asking a question knowing that his premise is false.
My response was based on my belief that the questioner knowingly asked a question based on a false
premise. That's why I couched my suggestion in a somewhat sarcastic tone.
