Scriabin Sonata #5

I love this piece, and the Glenn Gould version in particular:

Unfortunately the last 3 minutes have been cut off by Youtube, but this gives the bulk of the piece and a good feel for it.

Here's a rather different interpretation of the same piece from Sultanov:

Personally, I like Gould's somewhat slower approach... this seems really rushed to me in parts-- parts where Gould brings out more majesty -- but this version does have some nice moments.

This Richter version is cool, as the video maker puts in the music score so you can follow along, though again, this just seems rushed in parts to me.


There is also an unmistakable sound of Gershwin here, though Scriabin wrote this in the late 19th century-- before Gershwin came along.
