Trump Crossed a Bright Line and There Is No Going Back
Totally, totally beyond the pale of politics:
I understand these are confusing times. A lot of the power structure of the US, long criticized here and widely elsewhere, has aligned with Hillary Clinton. CIA directors, GOP politicians, GOP national security experts and advisors have come out against Trump and some have said they will support Hillary.
While others may differ, to me, this speaks to the incredibly real danger of Trump as president, and not so much about Hillary Clinton.
At this point, from now on, no decent caring person can support Trump. He's simply horrible in every regard, and the only good thing about him is that he appears to be leading the GOP to a well-deserved, historic defeat. The conservatives have only themselves to blame, leading themselves to support this fact-free, blowhard, ignoramus, narcissist, psychopath. The Republican base is full of the dumbest conspiracy theorists, jumping and cheering at every weak-ass factoid that supports their world-view, and twisting it beyond recognition. They should not be choosing the leader of this country, for so many reasons.
"No trying-to-be objective and fair journalist, no citizen who cares about the country and its future can ignore what Donald Trump said today.
When he suggested that "The Second Amendment People" can stop Hillary Clinton he crossed a line with dangerous potential.
By any objective analysis, this is a new low and unprecedented in the history of American presidential politics. This is no longer about policy, civility, decency or even temperament. This is a direct threat of violence against a political rival.
It is not just against the norms of American politics, it raises a serious question of whether it is against the law. If any other citizen had said this about a Presidential candidate, would the Secret Service be investigating?
Candidate Trump will undoubtably issue an explanation; some of his surrogates are already engaged in trying to gloss it over, but once the words are out there they cannot be taken back. That is what inciting violence means.
To anyone who still pretends this is a normal election of Republican against Democrat, history is watching. And I suspect its verdict will be harsh. Many have tried to do a side-shuffle and issue statements saying they strongly disagree with his rhetoric but still support the candidate. That is becoming woefully insufficient. The rhetoric is the candidate.
This cannot be treated as just another outrageous moment in the campaign. We will see whether major newscasts explain how grave and unprecedented this is and whether the headlines in tomorrow's newspapers do it justice. We will soon know whether anyone who has publicly supported Trump explains how they can continue to do. We are a democratic republic governed by the rule of law. We are an honest, fair and decent people.
In trying to come to terms with today's discouraging development the best I can do is to summon our greatest political poet Abraham Lincoln for perspective:
'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'
Lincoln used these stirring words to end his First Inaugural Address. It was the eve of the Civil War and sadly his call for sanity, cohesion and peace was met with horrific violence that almost left our precious Union asunder. We cannot let that happen again."

this election is wall govt/wall street elitist vs banker elitist.
damocrats and republicans are just 2 sides of the same coin and this election in particular confirms it.

""When he suggested that "The Second Amendment People" can stop Hillary Clinton he crossed a line with dangerous potential.....This is a direct threat of violence against a political rival.""
suggesting that trump advocates assassination of hillary? that is an increasingly grasping at straws pathetic attack by the increasingly terrified anti-trump crowd.
what are they so afraid of, that he won't go along with more murderous wars for profit against basically helpless 3rd world countries - as hillary has already done and will certainly continue to do so.
i suggest that when trump mentioned the 2nd amendment people, he was referring to the fact that they are very vocal and strong willed in their demands and would be an effective thorn in the side of the war-monger neocons.
U.S has been at continuous aggressive war since bush sr. took office.
hasn't our country and the world had enough of this bullshit yet?
a vote for war-monger hillary is a vote for more of the same neocon evil bullshit.
Dude, what the hell are you doing shilling for that psychopath Hitlary Clinton?
i don't believe spook is shilling for hillary so much as he is distressed by the thought of trump in office. spook knows that it doesn't matter who the figurehead
in office is - the jew banker bastards really in charge make the rules and
bush sr./bill C./bush jr./obama/hillary(next puppet) simply do as they are told.
probably trump's job is to ensure a hillary win.
GO TEAM U.S.A.!
