$500 BILLION Spent in Iraq So Far

That's a lot of money, though I guess killing people costs a lot of money.

Assuming we've killed (directly and indirectly) 500,000 people (a mid-range estimate), that is 1 million dollars per dead person.

Since the 500,000 is undoubtedly far less than half "bad guys" (guys trying to kill our troops), the cost could easily go up to 3 million per dead "bad guy". That doesn't sound like a good bargain to me, particularly since things are only getting worse in Iraq. 500 biillion has been essentially flushed down the toilet (i.e. into the hands of defense contractors and bankers).

The 500 billion figure comes from NPR's Marketplace show, who could not even be bothered to point out the number of people that we've killed in Iraq. Instead, they had the gall to compare Iraq to WWII, and call Iraq a "bargain" by comparison, since they say WWII cost 5 trillion.

I hate the fucking media.

Just to put that figure in perspective, One new house costs $200 thousand.

5 new houses costs $1 million

5 thousand new houses costs $1 billion

5 hundred thousand new houses costs $100 billion

2.5 million new houses costs $500 billion.

Bush is squandering our resources and murdering our men and women in uniform to benefit a few of his criminal buddies.
