The book states that Seitz, Singer, Nierenberg and Robert Jastrow were all fiercely anti-communist and they viewed government regulation as a step towards socialism and communism. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, they looked for another great threat to free market capitalism and found it in environmentalism. They feared that an over-reaction to environmental problems would lead to heavy-handed government intervention in the marketplace and intrusion into people's lives.[10] However, the strategy of denying the reality of environmental problems (such as global warming, acid rain, and ozone destruction) does not make them go away. Oreskes and Conway state that the longer the delay the worse these problems get, and the more likely it is that governments will need to take the draconian measures that conservatives most fear. They say that Seitz, Singer, Nierenberg and Jastrow denied the scientific evidence, contributed to a strategy of delay, and thereby helped to bring about the situation they most dreaded.

Basically, there were four key cold war scientists who were rabid anti-communists, that started the business of professional scientific denial of important political issues. They used tactics pioneered by the tobacco industry, to basically protect industry and the powers that be and fuck over the rest of humanity. Using their credibility as "scientists", they cast doubt on all kinds of issues that they deemed harmful to American capitalism and American supremacy.

This is certainly a meme that still exists very strongly today in the modern GOP-- that environmentalism is a type of communist plot, and not a real threat, and attempts to regulate business and protect the environment are harmful to America.

It's all very sickening to me, considering how out of control industry and pollution has gotten, and how a few deluded/brainwashed/evil scientists have thwarted the ability of humanity to live on a clean, healthy planet. We're practically doomed as a species, and in part we can blame these anti-communists fuckwads. But mostly we can blame this on greedy corporations, and ultimately, the evil ultimate PTB.

Over the past several decades, U.S. industries have injected more than 30 trillion gallons of toxic liquid deep into the earth, using broad expanses of the nation's geology as an invisible dumping ground.

No company would be allowed to pour such dangerous chemicals into the rivers or onto the soil. But until recently, scientists and environmental officials have assumed that deep layers of rock beneath the earth would safely entomb the waste for millennia.

There are growing signs they were mistaken.

Records from disparate corners of the United States show that wells drilled to bury this waste deep beneath the ground have repeatedly leaked, sending dangerous chemicals and waste gurgling to the surface or, on occasion, seeping into shallow aquifers that store a significant portion of the nation's drinking water.

In 2010, contaminants from such a well bubbled up in a west Los Angeles dog park. Within the past three years, similar fountains of oil and gas drilling waste have appeared in Oklahoma and Louisiana. In South Florida, 20 of the nation's most stringently regulated disposal wells failed in the early 1990s, releasing partly treated sewage into aquifers that may one day be needed to supply Miami's drinking water.

There are more than 680,000 underground waste and injection wells nationwide, more than 150,000 of which shoot industrial fluids thousands of feet below the surface. Scientists and federal regulators acknowledge they do not know how many of the sites are leaking.

Federal officials and many geologists insist that the risks posed by all this dumping are minimal. Accidents are uncommon, they say, and groundwater reserves — from which most Americans get their drinking water — remain safe and far exceed any plausible threat posed by injecting toxic chemicals into the ground.

But in interviews, several key experts acknowledged that the idea that injection is safe rests on science that has not kept pace with reality, and on oversight that doesn't always work.

"In 10 to 100 years we are going to find out that most of our groundwater is polluted," said Mario Salazar, an engineer who worked for 25 years as a technical expert with the EPA's underground injection program in Washington. "A lot of people are going to get sick, and a lot of people may die."

9/11 Vancouver Hearings

A good overview of the conference that finished about 10 days ago, here.

There was definitely no “party line” at the 9/11 Vancouver Hearings. The opinions offered by 19 presenters over three days were diverse, with some openly disagreeing with each other both in their presentations and in question-and-answer sessions. Some may feel that the lack of a common front at these hearings was a problem; I don’t think that’s true. One thing that was clear from the outset was that organizers Jim Fetzer (pictured above) and Joshua Blakeney were making no effort to emulate last September’s Toronto 9/11 Hearings – apart from the quasi-judicial structure. Where Toronto was safe and controlled, Vancouver was unpredictable and, at times, combative. The journalist part of me loved the volatility and excitement of it while the 9/11 truther part felt guilty about loving it. The things that stood out most for me from what I saw (which wasn’t everything):

Dwain Deets offering an assessment of limited evidence at the twin towers that pointed to a nuclear component in the destruction. He added that those pushing nanothermite might be “bragging more than they should.”

The clash between Fetzer and presenter Barbara Honegger over her claim that there was an impact at the Pentagon near the heliport

The confrontation between Fetzer and speaker Webster Tarpley over whether Israel played a role in 9/11.

All the 9/11 issues that would never have been mentioned at the Toronto Hearings: Israel’s role, alternative theories about the destruction of the towers (including nuclear and DEW), video fakery, burned vehicles, what happened to the passengers, etc.

Tarpley contending that George W. Bush may have had very little advance knowledge of 9/11, but that he “surrendered” the government to the plotters, likely under threat of being deposed

In the too good to be true category, a video presented by Fetzer (which he says came from Veterans Today chairman of the board Gordon Duff) which appears to show a missile hitting the Pentagon

Fetzer praised Judy Wood for “the most brilliant analysis of effects that have to be explained.” He added that he can’t understand why she has cut off communication with him.

Fetzer also praised the research of Citizen Investigation Team.

The thing that blew me away more than anything else over the weekend was the presentation by former NASA executive Deets who looked at what might have brought down the twin towers. He chose nine areas of evidence relating to the destruction of the twin towers, and he then looked at four theories about what could have done it. 1) Runaway open office space destruction (ROOSD) 2) Explosive demolition 3) Nuclear devices 4) Directed energy weapons ROOSD, I learned, means that floors in the towers were detached somehow from the inner and outer steel columns and then fell on the floors below, which would not be able to support the weight. Deets says this isn’t the same as the pancake theory because of the floors being entirely detached – and deliberately. This doesn’t support the official story, he adds. The evidence he looked at (he points out that this is a partial list, and his conclusions can’t be taken as his final answer on the subject) included the debris pattern, hot spots, why the crush down rate was different on different sides of the buildings, nanothermite, the temperature during the event, vehicle anomalies, the presence of tritium, basement explosions, and the presence of radionuclides. I’ll be following up on this.

Debate is good, and it's nice to see some of these topics being discussed out in the open after so many years. Especially nukes at the WTC! It sounds like not a lot of progress was made towards agreement, but that's the nature of the beast. I hope they keep these conferences going, frankly. This alternate piece on the conference, mentions they will be issuing indictments for the 9/11 perps.  Sounds good to me.

Isreal Controls the US and Did 9/11! Or Not!

There is kind of an amusing discussion here between Webster Tarpley and Greg Felton, on the role of Israel in 9/11 (it gets good about an hour in). Tarpley totally downplays the influence of Israel/Zionists/Neocons on 9/11 and Felton blames it almost entirely on them. Felton is a rather rabid anti-Israel researcher.

The amusing thing is that both Tarpley and Felton make great points, but ultimately both of them fall short of a proper explanation for what is going on. Tarpley is wrong to totally ignore the role of Israel, while Felton falls short by failing to explain exactl how Israel has such total control over the US. Why do Anglo-American leaders -- who are not dumb-- let themselves be subjugated? It's certainly absurd to posit that the US are simply stooges for Israel. However, clearly Israel has some bizarre level of control over the US. Unfortunately, in the show, no one bothered to point out how this control is maintained.

Possibilities for how Israel could maintain a grip over America are:
1) massive infiltration of key power positions in the US by Jewish moles/Israel agents.
2) some sort of blackmail of the US by Israel, for instance it has been proposed that Israel has nukes in several American cities, ready to go off, or the threat to start a world war by attacking Iran.
3) very powerful propaganda and political pressure (ie AIPAC), in part from sympathy to Jews from the holocaust and the "common enemy" of Islamic terrorists.
4) some supernatural power involving Judaism/God/Kabbalah/Mysticism.
5) some combination of the above.


Now, I have long thought that the seeming control of Israel over the US is to some extent smoke-and-mirrors and is a psy-op. The point is to make Israel look like the controller when they are really patsies. This has certainly been Anonymous Physicist's view, where Israel are really patsies for the higher level evil PTB who rule us all. But, why would Israel be patsies-- what do they get out of it? And if they are patsies, why do we bow before them so and let them dictate middle east policy? Conceivably we could use them as patsies but then we act like they control us to trick them. But this seems a bit silly to me.

Thus, the various explanations out there for the US-Israel relationship don't make much sense. 9/11 and the ME wars can't be all about Israel, nor can they have nothing to do with Israel. But perhaps a composite explanation works better-- a scenario where the Anglo-Americans and Israel are both competitors for control of US power, while at the same time, Anglo-Americans use Israel for their own power games. Or perhaps simpler, the Anglo-Americans tolerate Israel's games (and play up to them) as long as their interests intersect. Conceivably, in this arrangement, Israel agrees to be the US tough guy, as long as the US supports (acquiesces to) whatever they do. Perhaps this agreement similar to how the CIA might use the Mafia (or international drug lords) for certain nasty deeds that they want done anyway. Or perhaps internationally, the US and Israel play sort of a good cop/bad cop routine, with Israel being the bad cop.

A whole other complexity is the relationship between Israel and the larger Jewish population, especially American Jews. While it is easy to conflate all Jewry with all things Israel, this is not the case for sure. Moreover, not even all Israelis can be lumped together, as large percentages do not like the conservative pro-war aspect of Israel. The real problem is the large numbers of Jewish pro-Israel pro-war assholes in the US govt and in the US punditry. The disturbing fact is that the war advocates in the US are represented by Jews in an outrageously larger proportion to the percentage of Jews in the general US population. Whether these are really clever Israeli/Jewish cabal moles or an allowed design by the non-Jewish US elites, is unclear, but I suspect the latter.

Anyway, you look at it, it is clearly a complex relationship. I think overall, it makes more sense that the US tolerates the more obnoxious things Israel does, rather than Israel truly controlling the US. At the same time, Israel/Jews do have a lot of power over the US through various mechanisms, as noted above. I also think that despite the evil ultimate nature of the PTB, in the US-Israel relationship, there is a fair amount of public relations that must be maintained. Publicly, the US can't be seen as being Israel's bitch too much, nor can it be admitted publicly that Israel does the US's dirty work. So there is a LOT of disinformation/misinformation about Israel and Jews. So I find it hard to get upset about people who blame Israel for 9/11. Israel is not the ultimate answer in my opinion, but it at least is a starting point for debunking the official 9/11 conspiracy theory.

Anyone who says Israel/Jews control the US has to have good answers for:
1) how does Israel/Jews have such amazing control over the US when they are massively outnumbered in the population
2) why do Anglo-American leaders tolerate Israel/Jews control?

So far, I haven't heard those good answers.

UPDATE-- also, I should note, there is of course, very good a priori evidence for Israel involvement in 9/11 (that I won't go into here).  So, it's natural that people who don't go very deeply into conspiracy matters would blame Israel, even if the truth is much more complicated.

In the original discussion noted above, I liked Kevin Barret's point how Muslims have been abused and terrorized in the past 10 years, and how this is not unlike what happened to Jews before and during WWII.  He suggests that Muslims may get new respect once the truth about 9/11 comes out.  I'm not sure about that, but it's an interesting idea.  Barret also claims he is Muslim, which I didn't know before.

NSA: It Would Violate Your Privacy to Say if We Spied on You

McCullough told the senators that the NSA inspector general “and NSA leadership agreed that an IG review of the sort suggested would further violate the privacy of U.S. persons,” McCullough wrote.

Like so many other strange political/conspiracy issues, it's hard to know whether McCullough is just incredibly stupid or evil or brainwashed in some way. I typically lean towards the evil/brainwashed explanation, as simple stupidity just doesn't give a satisfactory explanation.

The fact is, THE NSA SPIES ON EVERYTHING WE DO-- but they won't officially admit it.

In a way, I suppose their line about checking on their spying would compromise individual privacy makes some sense, in a sick way, since they vacuum up so much data every minute, but hardly any of it is ever analyzed for names. Thus, they could attach names to the data, when they looked up what they collected on us, and that would disrupt the "privacy" we have in all our communications stored by the NSA. But the whole system is sick, sick, sick, and they should at least admit they just collect everything we ever do.

The bigger question is, can any president or political faction EVER make the NSA accountable to the people or even better, just end it? The NSA is a perfect example of the unaccountable, out of control, national security bureaucracy/apparatus that has taken over our country and turned it into a veritable dystopia.

So I Finally Got Around to Checking Out the "Vicsim Report"

Wow, what a fucking piece of crap.

I'm not going to link to it, but one can find it by google pretty easily.

It actually started out okay. The intro made some sense-- at least initially. It's clear there are weird things about the 9/11 victims list, and a lot of shoddiness and sloppiness. Further, I imagine there are at least SOME fake 9/11 victims, if nothing else, just by basic fraud-- insurance scam or some such. I am even okay with the idea of large swaths of 9/11 victims being manufactured personas -- but not all, by any means. I'm also sure a significant number of real people died on 9/11, and I think there is not much worse for someone's memory than to say they never existed. This is why the whole "Vicsim" concept is so dicey. You need extremely strong evidence to say someone was fake or never existed, which just isn't there.

But you start delving into the Vicsim Report, and it is just the crappiest, dumbest thing I've seen, relating to 9/11, and that is saying a fair amount.

So, after the intro, Hoi Polloi, aka Maxeem Kondrady, spends 27 pages finding totally random connections in groups of victims' names. Whatever linkage he thinks that he has found, is completely opaque, patently ridiculous and will not convince anyone with functioning critical thinking skills. What the dude really needs is some training in statistics and foreign languages.

The next 10 pages are making fun of the comments left in remembrance of the victims. Here, there is nothing even close to a smoking gun, if one knows anything about regular Americans.

Then come the last 36 pages or so, which are just the absolute most idiotic and clueless analysis of facial images I have ever seen anywhere. It is so PAINFULLY dumb and bad, that you have to think this guy is pulling everything from his ass, just as a big joke. No one can be this deluded or stupid, at least naturally. Was this guy drugged, or mind-controlled? You really have to wonder if he was set up to make the whole concept of fake victims look bad. But then again, no one writes 80 pages of crap like this as a joke! Everyone probably needs to look at it to believe how bad/dumb/inane it is.

So fuck the "Vicsim Report". I feel sorry for anyone who thinks it means something. As far as Hoi Polloi, I'm not sure whether to feel sorry for him or just be incredibly annoyed at his terrible skills of comparison and critical thinking.

Drones Over US to Get Weaponized

American police officers may soon be able to use unmanned aircraft not only for surveillance, but also for offensive action. The drones may be equipped to fire rubber rounds and tear gas.

“Those are things that law enforcement utilizes day in and day out, and in certain situations it might be advantageous to have this type of system on the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle),” Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas told The Daily news app as he outlined the possible development.

The US military and CIA have used drones armed with lethal weapons to target militants overseas for years. The prospect of having “lite” versions of those remotely controlled killer-machines circling over America gave some second thoughts to rights groups.

Uh, ya think? Fascist America just keeps getting worse and worse.

Rand Paul Endorses Mitt Romney?

I wasn't exactly a big fan of Rand Paul-- he has said some pretty obnoxious things-- but I at least thought he had more principle than this.

Meanwhile, Alex Jones keeps going on and on about Ron Paul, whose campaign is DEAD, and fails to show any love for the actual Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson.

Johnson actually seems pretty decent, and since I refuse to vote for Obama, I think Johnson is a decent alternative.

Belief In God Plummets Among Youth --

Young Americans are abandoning God in droves.

A new survey by the Pew Research Center finds that belief in the existence of God has dropped 15 points in the last five years among Americans 30 and under.

Pew, which has been studying the trend for 25 years, finds that just 68 percent of millenials in 2012 agree with the statement “I never doubt the existence of God.” That’s down from 76 percent in 2009 and 83 percent in 2007.

Does James Randi Protect Pedophiles?

This is pretty interesting:

James Randi, the magician, is involved with the False Memory Syndrome Foundation. This group claims that many adults who have memories of pedophilia are actually having false memories!

If a group of pedophiles wanted to protect themselves from accusations of pedophilia, what would be the best way?

How about if the pedophiles form an organization and claim to be experts in false memories, and then claim that the victims of pedophilia are actually having false memories?

I don't know whether anybody involved with the False Memory Syndrome Foundation is actually trying to protect pedophiles, but when we find somebody is lying to us, or when they promote a liar, we should be suspicious of them. So, before you trust this "foundation", take a closer look at the people in that foundation, such as James Randi.

James Randi promotes liars

Randi's web site is randi.org. His bio is here. He achieved credibility as an honest investigator by exposing such con artists as Uri Geller and Peter Popof. He boasts about it in this video (new link).

People assume Randi is honest because he exposed some con artists, but everybody whose brain was functioning already knew that those people were con artists. There were even teenagers who knew it. The only thing Randi did was show us how> they did their tricks, but it's possible that all magicians would have been able to figure that out. As far as I know, Randy hasn't done anything that deserves a special prize.

However, notice that at the beginning of the video he mentions winning the MacArthur award in 1986, and that most of the prize money ($272,000) was wasted on defending himself against libel suits. There is not much information about these libel suits, other than there were accusations of pedophilia going back and forth.

Of course Randi and the goons at his skeptics forum are heavily involved in debunking all conspiracies, such as 9/11. He is certainly intel at some level.

True or not, during the trial Byrd and his team played a tape on which Randi was speaking to a small boy about sex and how much it would cost. Randi claimed it was all a setup by Byrd and the boys on the tape were prank callers. The judge wasn't so sure about that, especially because Randi voluntarily called back one of the boys after the latter told him his money was running out. Another terrible aspect of the "war on terror":

The suicide rate among the nation’s active-duty military personnel has spiked this year, eclipsing the number of troops dying in battle and on pace to set a record annual high since the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan more than a decade ago, the Pentagon said Friday. (snip)

The military said Friday that there had been 154 suicides among active-duty troops through Thursday, a rate of nearly one each day this year. The figures were first reported this week by The Associated Press. That number represents an 18 percent increase over the 130 active-duty military suicides for the same period in 2011. There were 123 suicides from January to early June in 2010, and 133 during that period in 2009, the Pentagon said.

By contrast, there were 124 American military fatalities in Afghanistan as of June 1 this year, according to the Pentagon.

The Dumbing Down of America: Fructose Edition

Apparently, not only is fructose, such as found in cheap soft drinks laden with high fructose corn syrup, terrible for your health, it can make you dumb.

Hardly shocking then, when Americans consume huge amounts of soda and other sugary foods (typically filled with HFCS), that they become more compliant and sheeplike, more easily taken advantage of by the PTB.

Ask any UFOlogist about the reality of extraterrestrial life, and you’ll most likely get one of three versions of what is happening. The first is that we have been witnessing UFOs since the mid-1940s that offer abundant physical evidence of other worldly technologies sighted in our skies. This leads to the conclusion that some UFOs are extraterrestrial space vehicles observing our world, especially locations where nuclear weapons were being developed or stored. The second most popular version is that since the early 1960s, short “gray aliens” have been abducting people for genetic experimentation. The third is that some UFOs have crashed, and that strange looking “gray aliens” have been recovered along with advanced technologies for study in classified reverse engineering programs.

Ufology’s three main versions of what is happening with extraterrestrial life is grounded in abundant empirical data. There are tens of thousands of cases from around the world involving physical sightings, radar trackings, photographs, film and testimony of UFO sightings. Similarly, there are thousands of first hand testimonies revealing the existence of alien abductions, and a genetic program conducted by strange looking extraterrestrials with human subjects. Finally, many hundreds of witnesses have come forward to confirm that some UFOs have crashed, and that the technology and occupants have been removed for highly classified study.

All three versions make up what is today known as scientific UFOlogy, and claims that this is as close as one gets to real science when it comes to the question of extraterrestrial visitation. The problem with all three versions of scientific UFOlogy is that they mask something that has long been officially kept hidden from the public. A secret that many leading UFOlogists have actively conspired to keep, along with government agencies encouraging such a process. Human looking extraterrestrials have been visiting our world and making contact with the general public since the beginning of the modern UFO era.

Bombing Rescue Workers and Funeral Mourners by the CIA-- On Purpose

It's hard to think of a more disgusting, outrageous and officially counter-productive policy --

In February, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism documented that after the U.S. kills people with drones in Pakistan, it then targets for death those who show up at the scene to rescue the survivors and retrieve the bodies, as well as those who gather to mourn the dead at funerals: “the CIA’s drone campaign in Pakistan has killed dozens of civilians who had gone to help rescue victims or were attending funerals.” As The New York Times summarized those findings: “at least 50 civilians had been killed in follow-up strikes after they rushed to help those hit by a drone-fired missile” while “the bureau counted more than 20 other civilians killed in strikes on funerals.”

This repellent practice continues. Over the last three days, the U.S. has launched three separate drone strikes in Pakistan: one on each day. As The Guardian reports, the U.S. has killed between 20 and 30 people in these strikes, the last of which, early this morning, killed between 8 and 15. It was the second strike, on Sunday, that targeted mourners gathered to grieve those killed in the first strike:

At the time of the attack, suspected militants had gathered to offer condolences to the brother of a militant commander killed during another US unmanned drone attack on Saturday. The brother was one of those who died in the Sunday morning attack. The Pakistani officials said two of the dead were foreigners and the rest were Pakistani.

Note that there is no suggestion, even from the “officials” on which these media reports (as usual) rely, that the dead man was a Terrorist or even a “militant.” He was simply receiving condolences for his dead brother. But pursuant to the standards embraced by President Obama, the brother — without knowing anything about him — is inherently deemed a “combatant” and therefore a legitimate target for death solely by virtue of being a “military-age male in a strike zone.” Of course, killing family members of bombing targets is nothing new for this President: let’s recall the still-unresolved question of why Anwar Awlaki’s 16-year-old American son, Abdulrahman, was killed by a U.S. drone attack in Yemen two weeks after his father was killed.

I ask this sincerely: what kind of country targets rescuers, funeral attendees, and people gathered to mourn? If a Hollywood film featured a villainous King ordering lethal attacks on rescuers, funerals and mourners — those medically attending to or grieving his initial victims — any decent audience member would, by design, seethe with contempt for such an inhumane tyrant. But this is the standard policy and practice under President Obama and it continues through today.

The Attempted Assassination of Jimmy Carter by Lee Harvey/Oswaldo

A curious bit of disappeared history:

Toward mid-1979 Democrat Carter was being chastised by critics within the media, as well as by the Republicans, as being wishy-washy on a variety of issues. They said his was a mediocre presidency. The mass media were already focusing on conservative California Gov. Ronald Reagan as the man of the hour. His nomination as GOP presidential candidate for the 1980 election seemed assured.

Carter asked for and was granted a national television spot during prime time and many media pundits predicted that he was about to announce sweeping changes in government as well as new initiatives which would move his upcoming presidential re-election campaign off high center.

But before his televised appearance, Carter journeyed to California where he was to address a Hispanic crowd in Los Angeles.s Civic Center Mall celebrating Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican Independence Day.

A few days later, a handful of newspapers carried a small story stating that a "grubby transient" had been arrested there and was being held on suspicion of the attempted assassination of the president. A Secret Service spokesman downplayed the arrest stating the incident was about as "nothing as these things get."

However, a few days later, another news item appeared which reported that the 35-year-old Anglo suspect was being held in lieu of $50,000 on charges of conspiring to kill the president.

Finally, a one-time story in the May 21, 1979, edition of Newsweek revealed more details of the incident.

It seems that the suspect was arrested after Secret Service agents noticed him "looking nervous." A .22-calibre, eight-shot revolver was found on the man along with 70 rounds of blank ammunition. A short time later, the suspect implicated a second man, a 21-year-old Hispanic who also was taken into custody and subsequently held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The second suspect at first denied knowing the other man, but finally admitted that the pair had test fired the blank starter pistol from a nearby hotel roof the night before Carter.s appearance. Both men said they were simply local street people who had been hired by two Mexican hit men. They were to create a diversion with the blank pistol and the two hit men were to assassinate President Carter with high-powered rifles.

Lending credence to their story, both suspects led authorities to the shabby Alan Hotel located near the civic center. Here investigators found an empty rifle case and three rounds of live ammunition in a room rented under than name Umberto Camacho. Camacho apparently had checked out the day of Carter's visit. No further trace of the hit men could be found.

The Anglo suspect was Raymond Lee Harvey and his Hispanic companion was Osvaldo Ortiz. This oddity of their names prompted Newsweek reporters to state, "References to Lee Harvey Oswald and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy were unavoidable."

"But it was still far from clear whether the authorities had a real conspiracy or a wild goose chase on their hands," they added.

No further news stories appeared and the disposition of the case against Lee Harvey and Osvaldo apparently has never been made public.

What did happen was that President Carter canceled his national TV speech and went into seclusion at Camp David, MD. After seeking advice from a lengthy line of consultants, including the Rev. Billy Graham, Carter was reported to have said, "I have lost control of the government."

It is historical fact that no serious policy changes were made and no sweeping changes were made in government. Carter remained indecisive in the public eye and by mid-November the following year, the United States took a conservative turn under the leadership of Ronald Reagan. Reagan's victory was due, in large part, to a failed military rescue attempt and the collapse of negotiations in mid-October 1980. Both concerned the release of American hostages seized at the American Embassy in Teheran, Iran, on November 4, 1979, after Carter allowed the deposed Shah to enter the United States for medical treatment.

Later, it was alleged that Reagan.s running mate, George Bush, along with CIA Director William Casey had privately cut a deal with Iranian leaders to hold the hostages until after the November election, thus assuring a Reagan victory. Despite testimony confirming this "October Surprise" from several people involved, including the Iranian Foreign Minister, no action was taken by the Reagan-Bush administration. Yet it is a fact that on January 20, 1981, just minutes after Reagan was sworn into office, the American hostages were released and within weeks, military supplies which Carter had withheld from Iran began moving to that nation.

To any astute observer of national affairs, there is activity happening behind the scenes, which is rarely reported by the 'watchdog' media.

And never mind calculating the odds of two men named Lee Harvey and Osvaldo being identified in a conspiracy to assassinate an American president. This information alone should be enough to cause any thinking person to ponder the hidden machinations which may be taking place in this nation to control government leaders through fear and intimidation.

Deja Vu Watch -- Al CIA-duh's #2 al-Libi Killed

Uh, really?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The CIA has carried out a half-dozen drone strikes in Pakistan in less than two weeks, the latest targeting al-Qaida's second in command, as the U.S. pushes ahead with the controversial program despite Pakistani demands that it stop.

A CIA drone strike Monday targeted Abu Yahia al-Libi in Pakistan, but it was unclear whether he was among those hit, U.S. officials said.

U.S. officials say fewer than five people were hit, although Pakistani officials say more than a dozen people were killed in two days of strikes in Pakistan. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the classified drone program.

U.S. officials said they did not know yet whether al-Libi was among those killed, but said they were "optimistic."

Do they simply modify this basic story and keep putting it every 3 months or so? I *know* there were a couple of #2's killed previously, named al-Libi, but I can't find the article.

One odd phenomenon is that when the new article comes out on the supposed latest killing of the #2 al-CIA-duh man, a google search gets completely filled with all the new pieces on the "killing" and it's essentially impossible to find older pieces on #2's getting killed. It's amazing how many media outlets seem to regurgitate the same piece of news, uncritically.

Eighty Percent Of Al-Qaeda No. 2s Now Dead

—The Pentagon announced Monday that 80 percent of Osama bin Laden's seconds-in-command have been eliminated. "Nearly 1,600 al-Qaeda leaders ranked number two have been wiped out," Lt. Col. Mark Allison said. "That leaves only 400 of Osama bin Laden's right-hand men in the organization." Following the apparent failure to kill bin Laden's No. 2 man Ayman al-Zawahri in a missile strike on a Pakistani border town on Jan. 13, American forces intensified the search for al-Qaeda second-in-command Ahmed Al-Zahnami, or, failing that, No. 2 man Amman al-Zaharani, or No. 2 man Ahmed al-Zafarani.

Obama Wasn't a "Natural Born Citizen"???

I can understand the argument that Obama was born in Kenya-- it makes some sense, though it's hard to know for sure if that is the case. What I really don't understand is the argument that some people make, that Obama wasn't a "natural born citizen" of the US-- even if he was born in the US-- because his father was a British citizen. Does anyone understand that argument who can explain it to me? It seems the constitution does not clarify what "natural born citizen" means, but isn't the common law standard that if you were born on US territory, that you are a "natural born citizen"? Isn't that the whole point of "Anchor babies"?

Charlotte Iserbyt and the Dumbing of America

I ran into her recently via YouTube, and was intrigued by the title of her book, "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America" (available for free at her website).

I tried listening to a couple of her videos but just found them too annoying. She started out okay but then her claims just got more and more overblown and/or unbelievable. She seems to be a relic of the old right-wing John Birch society mentality, with extreme paranoia about socialism and communism, and a distrust of technology. Most of all, her claims just didn't seem to stack up. I looked at her book, and just could not see the problems she saw in the education system.

Not to say that the education system ISN'T controlled in some way to dumb down America. It probably is! But I didn't see it in the evidence she had (at least in the limited review of the stuff I took). I *would* like to see a better presentation of the evidence for how the education system is controlled...

But most oddly, Iserbyt says both her father and grandfather were member of Skull and Bones, and talks about what great guys they were. She talks a bunch about secret societies and the Nazis still being in the US... which is fine in general, but I sense she is giving out disinfo. It's like she is onto some important info, but at minimum is not an effective messenger, and at worst, is giving out disinfo.

Which overall reminds me of the right-wing view of conspiracies-- they may have some okay points, but are terribly blinded by ideology and are missing the bigger picture.

Israel Deploys Nuclear Weapons on German-Built Submarines

June 04, 2012 "Spiegel" -- A German shipyard has already built three submarines for Israel, and three more are planned. Now SPIEGEL has learned that Israel is arming the submarines with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The German government has known about Israel's nuclear weapons program for decades, despite its official denials.

Germany is helping Israel to develop its military nuclear capabilities, SPIEGEL has learned. According to extensive research carried out by the magazine, Israel is equipping submarines that were built in the northern German city of Kiel and largely paid for by the German government with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The missiles can be launched using a previously secret hydraulic ejection system. Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak told SPIEGEL that Germans should be "proud" that they have secured the existence of the state of Israel "for many years."

Merkel had tied the delivery of the sixth submarine to a number of conditions, including a demand that Israel stop its expansionist settlement policy and allow the completion of a sewage treatment plant in the Gaza Strip, which is partially financed with German money. So far, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met none of the terms.

So absurd, what Israel gets away with...

The Prosecution of John Edwards

Russ Baker makes some good points here, although not exactly a new concept-- that the PTB set-up Dem politicians who threaten the PTB with woman trouble.

I personally never thought Edwards was so wonderful politically, though I could see the attraction. On the other hand, I'm not sure why so many liberals despised him. Sure, he cheated on his wife, but big whoop-- that seems to come with the territory.
