"there's a great deal of killing to be done"
So says ex-CIA agent Michael Scheuer, with regard to the War on Terror".
As horrible as this statement is, I'm afraid he's very right.
Bloodlust has gripped the upper echelons of power in Washington DC, and those in power simply will not recognize their tragic decisions until many many more lives are lost. Moreover, bloodlust has taken hold of middle America-- primarily inspired by 9/11-- and this thirst will not be slaked in the near future.
When and where the killing will stop, I have no idea. But I know thousands will die first, maybe even hundreds of thousands will die-- if those hollow souls leading this country decide we need even more war and a new incentive for more war.
The Peak Oil theory rears it's ugly head here, as the ultimate outcome of passing Peak Oil is proposed to be the deaths of billions of humans-- since in theory the great mass of the world population cannot survive without fossil fuels.
One has to wonder if one reason for the war on terrorism is simply to kill off large numbers of people free up the world's resources for post-petroleum humanity.
I personally think this is the most horrible idea possible.
Still, it is hard not to see there is some truth to the statement that "there's a great deal of killing to be done"-- much as I wish it were not true.
