Just Not Getting It About Peak Oil
The New York Times, who like so many other news organizations, labor under the impression that high oil prices are just temporary. Thus we get the cluelessness of this statement:
Of course, the article was more concerned about the impact of high oil prices on Bush's popularity and the political implications than about the long-term energy situation. Heaven forbid the media focus on what really matters.
The administration has shown no sign of rethinking its opposition to releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as a means of trying to force prices down. What an incredibly idiotic thing to say! These writers obviously just don't get it. The fact is, high oil prices are here to stay, and moreover, they will just keep on getting higher and higher until either people truly start conserving or the economy suffers terribly or both.
