Whatever Happened to This Iraq-9/11 Connection?
In researching Wayne Madsen, I came across this article from October 2001, where Madsen is clearly disseminating propaganda-like intelligence about 9/11:
"Sources close to the Lebanese Hezbollah and the London-based al-Muhajiroun Islamic movement say the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington were possibly aided by members of Iraqi intelligence. ... The Iraqi pilot scenario might explain how the commercial pilots of American and United airlines flights were so easily replaced by terrorist pilots.
Another source familiar with bin Laden's al-Qaeda network suggested some of the pilots may have been veteran Mirage and Mig pilots of the Iraqi Air Force who could easily have been trained to understand the cockpit instrumentation of Boeing 757s and 767s in order to vector their kamikazes into their targets."
Now this is the first I ever heard of this story. But since this fits so neatly into the Bush administration's much ballyhooed linkage between Al Qaeda and 9/11 and Iraq, I wonder why this story disappeared off the radar screen.
Why didn't the Bush administration try to spread this story more? Did the CIA shoot the story down? Or was it such obvious bullshit that even the Bush administration wouldn't touch it?
Weird.
But this does suggest Madsen is connected to people with an inclination to spread disinformation. Which again gives me pause about the vote-rigging story.
